UMEED is an ongoing maiden under the Rs 13,000-crore Garib Samruddhi Yojana of the Gujarat government which aims to achieve sustained reduction in the vulnerability and poverty of the poor. The program provides job training and recording to youth from vulnerable families across Gujarat. Implementation of the UMMEED in Ahmedabad has been before unique due to stron g support of the local NGOs. only when its! coverage is very limited as it has not set the basic livelihood issue of the larger section of urban poor.
